Entering the 3rd decade.

Hola Amigos (if any at all)!

It's been so long and as always, there's been so much to catch up with. For starters, it's going to be a year at Karkala and I must say that I do feel a lot differently about this town than when we first moved in here.

There were a couple of events in Karkala such as the Karthik Punnav which is an annual event of Venkatramana Temple in Karkala and  Karlotsava (reminiscent of the childhood exhibitions and fairs we would attend). There was also Attur Feast which is an annual event of Attur Church. Along with these, there is always some cultural event going on in the vicinity such as Yakshagana or Bhoota Kola which is widely practised in this region. It's interesting to see the blend of so many cultures in this small town, indeed the rich heritage of our land can only be witnessed through all the festivities and practices in each different community.

I also recently ran my 3rd 10K (ever) this month with a slight ankle sprain and I'm glad it went well. This was also our (Suraj and my) first 10K together! Here's hoping for many more in the coming months.

I've signed up for a course online (Maternal and Infant  Young Child Nutrition) on NPTEL and I try and make time for the videos and assignments. I also go to Manipal for the UG clinics and end postings. I try to make the classes interesting and the recent highlight was when they presented Thalassemia and I tried to engage the class with questions. I assumed a confident air which I DID NOT really feel, but suffice to say that I got a compliment from one of the students and that just made my day. :)

As mentioned earlier, I am also involved in making healthy nutritious meals and now that I have a wonderful 3 burner stove, It's become all the more easier and faster to make a variety of items.

We had a short trip to Chikmagalore where we got to spend some quality time in the midst of nature thanks to Rivermist Resort. The highlight of the trip was the river walk where we walked along/ in the stream only to hike towards a small waterfall that ends in a natural pond where we swam for a bit. Truly, nothing like nature to recharge the spirits and reconnect with your inner child.

We've also planned for a small trip in the coming month. Here's hoping it goes well!

The current week has been hectic for the lack of the other paediatricians here and hence, I have probably been on the edge over the past few days. But it's also oddly gratifying to be able to manage the wards, Rounds and OPD with the help of the postgraduate and nursing staff. Here's hoping the rest of the week also goes uneventfully.

I also need to catch up with Di and Pa once her exams are done and maybe we could plan a trip in the summer!

I recently re-read Doctors by Eric Segal and oh my! It was a beautiful feeling to re-read this treasure and relive all the memories. This book fascinated me when  first read it and it still holds the same charm.

There's so much more to share. I will be back soon. Probably in the next week when I can breathe a little more easily. :)

Adios
