Mystical.

Dad had forgotten to get the birds back from the terrace and after I reminded him, we rushed upstairs and got drenched in the torrential downpour. We covered the birds with a blanket and brought them downstairs. The cage looked damp and the birds were huddled in a corner (visibly shaken after surviving a thunderstorm (of sorts)) Before I went downstairs, I took a last look at the overcast sky; it looked fascinating.

The sky was a an amalgam of purple, red and orange embellished with the white streaks of lightning. After this, I went back and buried my nose in Wodehouse, but I wasn't engrossed anymore (My sincere apologies to Mr.PGW). A strange thought was forming in my head.

Something about the atmosphere outside intrigued me. I've never felt such a strong urge. I simply had to yield to it. So I grabbed a towel, opened the door noiselessly and crept out stealthily to avoid being spotted by my sister. The rusty latches creaked and groaned despite my futile attempts to keep it a clandestine affair.

Although the velocity of the rainfall had reduced,it was pouring nevertheless. As I stood there, shivering, I felt a flurry of emotions: Happiness, fear, confusion, ecstasy, trepidation. For some unexplainable reason, as much as I wanted to stay, I felt an equally strong desire to return to the cozy confines of my
room.

Flashes of lightning gave the surroundings an unearthly brightness. Thunder accompanied lightning with equal force and vigor. There was a chill in the air. I could see construction workers of a nearby building watching the rain with relief. For them, It signaled the end of day's work. The glittering lights of some mall or shopping arcade gleamed from the distance.

I clutched the towel tightly and ventured out to face the sky only to retreat within seconds to the safety of the sheltered roof. I spent a few more minutes ruminating on what was it that attracted me. I've always wanted to embrace the rain with open arms but something holds me back. It's either the thought of being rebuked by my mom or catching a cold that will eventually result in the result of the family sniffing and sneezing. But today, I didn't care two hoots. There was no looking back.
It was the call of the wild. The call of my spirit.

Reader(s) please note:

Yes, I can get frightfully philosophical at times. :)

The above post was first written and then typed. You could acknowledge my painstaking effort by commenting xD

And NO, this is not the story. That is a masterpiece and hence, Patience.

Of Squandered holidays and Sleepy classes

If you juxtapose all my holidays so far and what I've done during them, this is, by far, the laziest.
My life was a tumultuous roller-coaster ride during the holidays. The reason being the seemingly innocuous arrival of a canine. But the presence of 2 hyperactives under the same household can prove onerous for my mom, as it is beginning to show. Activities of the dog have to be done surreptitiously; yes, its a clandestine affair, for if my sibling sees the poor creature (which is equally belligerent with my sister alone), then all hell will break lose and peace will become a thing of the past for nearly an hour.. Taking my sister into the general public is like you're willingly commiting a gaffe. Yes, she's precocious but equally contentious.

Moving on, I spent a few hours glued to my Laptop, trying to do something productive above all the cacophony. I remotely succeeded. I managed to procur a Library Membership Card after a long wait. I suppose it was my tenacity that prevented me from leaving the place out of frustration.

A few days were spent at my Gran's place and the usually placid household became a chaotic mess. So we left to alleviate the burden on our hosts. Haha.

And then college began. The first day was bad. I sat like a vegetable. And slept in the bus! And after coming home and freshening up, I was back in bed!

btw, I started Wodehouse. :)

What Happened?

I was creative.
I was smart (*Past Perfect*).
I used to indulge in several extracurricular activities.
I had good memory power.
I was focussed.

What happened?
No point shirking away from reality. Reality Bites. The truth is, somewhere along the way, I just lost it all. Or maybe its tucked away in some corner of my brain. Dormant?

I think I have RPIOD. Well, its a disorder created by me and probably I'm the sole living entity plagued by this. So no need to expand the Acronym. :)

The other day, I realized how we take things for granted. My friends and I met at the park near my house and as we sat chatting about life in our respective colleges, an old man, seemingly ordinary, so ordinary you wouldn't give a second look at him, came and sat nearby. We remained engrossed in our gupshup and only when we paused for a moment to catch our breath did the man introduce himself.
He happened to be a trainer of various sports, including throwball, volleyball, basketball etc. Apparently he was one of the first to win the Arjuna Award and he showed us his card which contained a photograph of him receiving an award from Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Later we realized he was the grandfather of our ex-classmate, Mrudula V.

What amazed me was how, we (ok, I) judge people based on appearance. Something I should stop immediately.

I may get (May May!) a JustBooks Membership Today. :) Speaking of today, I did nothing productive. Do you call watching the video of a student selected for Huntsman Program productive? That is, her endorsment of a certain Counselling Agency? O.o

A lil Vocabulary Building :)

Sometimes my mom doesn't bother to question the veracity of my sister's allegations against me and hence I'm wrongly vituperated. This is because my sister embellishes fact with fiction to suit her needs and thus cook up a seemingly credible story. It is only after I remind her that the fabricated story was a figament of her imagination, that she reconsiders the mendacious statements..

Albus Dumbledore was an eccentric old man who had a serene aura about him. Something in my pup reminded me of the placid and brilliant wizard and hence the name. My sister calls him by the name Teev, but I intend to show my intransigence and not change his name.

HolsAgain! Time to procrastinate. (Ugh No)

What I intend to do:
  • Study
  • SAT
  • Art
  • Records
  • Sing
  • Jog
  • Read. Books and good articles.
  • Clean
  • Call up MC Academy and Find out if you can continue that Drawing course!! :")
  • Print it (:)

Pragmatic and poetic. Is that possible?

I know I'm not a loquacius person, but I'm not reticent either. I'm an abstruse enigma. I specialize in gaffes. I hate sycophancy but I know that not all castigate the silly behaviour.

Physics has me stymied, but I dont think I hate it. I like Biology and Chemistry and I share a great equation! :)

Perhaps this is a tad too bombastic and loaded with ebullience and thus I am compelled to end this whimsical post born out of an impetous nature of mine.

My Days At Marigold.

The next day we woke up leisurely and after a heavy breakfast, we went trekking. Now, I'm not new to trekking and I think this was more like a hike than a trek. We took regular water-breaks and photo-breaks. We saw several monkeys. Awfully tame. And we also saw apple farms. But we didn't see orchards of red juicy apples since it wasn't the season.

So we trudged along, until we reached a temple. An old man sat at the foot of the temple, contemplating. The temple was small and pretty. After this we walked back in another route. We crossed the estate of a certain Prince of another era.

The guide was a local. He was a simple, friendly man and an expert in climbing pine trees with ease.  He informed us that the red flowers that grow in plenty in the hillside was known as "Brass" and a juice was made out of it..

Kids from the Highway!
We reached the resort around 12:30PM and after a brunch, we started towards Jakku Temple. Jakku Temple can be decribed by 1 word: Monkeys!! As rightly pointed out by WikiTravels, it is not advisable to spent too much time here, since there's the constant threat of being approached (I wouldn't say attacked) by monkeys. We got sticks just to ward them off. The temple is an old structure and a huge statue is now being constructed (Reportedly funded by Ab. Bacchan). I purchased cute woollen shoes for Divya (after a lot of haggling).

Next Stop: Rashtrapathi Nivas. Steeped in History, this structure now houses the Indian Institute Of Advanced Studies. The scholars pursue research work in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

National Instt. Of Advanced Studies
Built using teak wood, decorated with 123-year old Belgian chandeliers and equipped with unique fire fighting system (Wax and water), this colonial building was first the Summer Palace of the Governor General, then, the summer home of the President of India and finally it is now the IIAS (after it was inaugurated by Dr.Radhakrishnan)... The Palace had a certain colonial charm to it.. It was regal.. We saw several pre-Independence era photos in the Gallery... By The way, The Shimla Conference (If you remember your History) was held here..

After this we strolled in the famous Mall Road. Vidha3 and I had bhelpuri. And we also saw Preity Zinta's college. (St.Bede's)... We didn't really shop much. Just a few souvenirs. Also it wasn't really crowded. Because it was the World Cup Final, silly!

                                                 Mall Road, Shimla

So after ambling aimlessly, we went back to our cottage. And had dinner in bed. and I fell asleep before India won. I vaguely remember Vidha3 waking me up (as I had requested her to do so in case India won) , I remember mumbling something incoherent and dozing off. Yes, very unpatriotic indeed. :( (According to a certain Ms.P)

Mindset.

I'll probably never get over my dissapointment of getting 88%. Surprised? Well Yes, There's no point beating around the bush, I Just CAN'T get over it.

Its a recurring nightmare which leaves me dejected. And hopeless.
